Even though the Atlanta Hawks acquired Louis Williams and Devin Harris this off-season, Jeff Teague is excited about the direction the team is going in and wants to be the leader of the team.
“I saw it as an opportunity to step up and play even better,” Teague said to AJC Hawks writer, Michael Cunningham. “That’s what I’m going to do…I feel like I can be an elite point guard.”
Louis Williams proved to be one of the league’s best sixth men last season and may continue his role in Atlanta. Devin Harris, however, has started in the majority of the games he has played in since the 2006-2007 season and whilst he has never returned to his 21 points per game self when he was with New Jersey, Harris is still a starter in the NBA and will expect to play big minutes.
Teague envisions playing on the court with the two new additions at the same time to utilise their speed. Teague said that they can “all score the basketball” yet lack height at the shooting guard position.
