By the time game six between the Pacers and Knicks was over, it was nearing the wee hours of the morning and I’m sure all the players wanted to do was go home, and get some sleep. Or hit up the clubs.

But they couldn’t. Instead, they hat to stick around for a little longer to do their mandatory post-game interviews.

For young guys like Paul George, Lance Stephenson and George Hill, that’s probably not a big issue. After all, they aren’t that far removed from their college days and their sleeping pattern is probably all over the place.

But for 32-year old veteran David West, it’s another story.

Just keep your eye on him during this post-game interview. When Lance Stephenson starts answering a question, West lowers his head and shuts his eyes. While he could just be chillin’, as soon as the next reporter says “Gentlemen”, West looks around as if he doesn’t know where he is. If you ask me, it’s a clear cut case. He dozed off.

Kevin Durant may not have any tattoos on his arms, but the man is inked up underneath his jersey.

You may already know about the work he’s had done on his chest and stomach, and you may even know about the ‘Maryland’ tattoo across his shoulder blades, but the three time scoring champ has just had the rest of his back touched up and he didn’t hold back one bit.

Just take a look for yourself:

KD’s Back Tattoo

Clearly, that didn’t take just a day to complete and chances are, Durant splashed a lot of dough to get it done. But there is some bad news.

There’s a typo.

Instead of saying ‘mature’, a close up clearly shows that “mautre” has been written instead.

Let this be a lesson to us all:

Kevin Durant learned an important lesson today. When you get back tattoos, bring along a friend who can spellcheck.

— Sarah Kogod (@SarahKogod) May 22, 2013

UPDATE

In response to Yahoo! Sports’ claim that his tattoo has a typo, Durant just posted this on Instagram.

Believe who you want to believe, I guess.

Matt Bonner and Zach Randolph approach the game of basketball in very distinct ways, but they have some things in common. Most notably, they’re both around 6’9″ tall and the highest you will ever see them jump is when they are launching jump shots from 16-23 feet away from the basket.

Quite simply, the absolute last place you’d find them is in a dunk contest. And if they decided to give it a go, chances are nobody would watch because, well, this:

Grizzlies fans have probably learnt by now that it’s not worth getting too hung up on the first couple games of a series, but damn, the first two games in these Conference Finals have been ugly.

In game one, the Spurs sauntered their way to a 22 point victory, and had it not been for a furious fourth quarter comeback last night, it would’ve been the same old story in game two.

If you haven’t sat down to watch either game yet, don’t worry. You didn’t miss much. Yes, it was nice seeing Tony Parker slice and dice his way to a career high 18 assists last night, but other than that, you’re probably better off watching the extended highlights for now.

Or, just save yourself even more time and watch this play. It does a good job of summing up how bad the Grizzlies have been so far.

So. Many. Misses.

BIG NEWS, CHARLOTTE!

Today, it was announced that the Charlotte Bobcats may not be the Bobcats for much longer, as Michael Jordan and his team has applied to the NBA Board of Governors to change the name back to the Hornets.

So that means, after nine seasons, a total winning percentage of .346 and zero Playoff victories, there will be no more Bobcats in Charlotte. Well, that’s not actually true, because they will still be the Bobcats next season, and that’s only if this all falls through. But you know what I mean…

And for me? Well, I may not be a diehard Bobcats fan (which is a good thing because they’ve been pretty terrible the last two seasons), but signing up to their newsletter has it’s perks.

After all, it’s not everyday that I check my inbox and get a message from the G.O.A.T*:

* Don’t worry, I know that MJ didn’t actually type this out and hit the ‘Send’ button after inserting my e-mail address, but I can dream, right?

by Scott

Kobe announced on Facebook yesterday that he was going to make a big announcement at 21:30 Eastern Time at the Sports Spectacular 2013 gala. Naturally, this caused a whirlwind of rumours, ranging from “is he going to request a trade” to my personal favorite, “is he announcing that Chris Paul is joining the Lakers?”.

But thanks to a fake Adrian Wojnarowski Twitter account, the main concern was whether or not Kobe was announcing his retirement. However, after the event, Kobe put all Mamba followers at ease for a little while when he Tweeted this:

Really?? Me. Retire?? Soon, but not yet Vino still has work to do #35 #OG #kbvff

— Kobe Bryant (@kobebryant) May 20, 2013

And his announcement? Well, it was for ‘Kobe Up Close’ - a charity event that he will be holding on August 15th, to help eradicate homelessness.

Not only is it a fantastic cause, but Lakers fans can all take a deep breath now that Kobe is sticking around for at least a bit longer.

Even when the Spurs blow a team out (like they did tonight), there is still a reason to stick around and watch them play because they have a seven time all-star coming off their bench, who is working his way towards his first ever championship, even though he is way beyond his prime.

I’m talking about Tracy McGrady.

Before signing with the Spurs, T-Mac had never been out the first round. Now, he’s just seven wins away from winning his first chip. And tonight, he got a taste of the Western Conference Finals, as he played seven minutes and scored…well, zero points.

Okay, so it wasn’t exactly what us T-Mac fans wanted to see, and to make matters worse, this happened:

Whoops!

Skip Bayless is one of those guys who you either love, or hate.

To be honest, I haven’t met many people who do love him, but his one million Twitter followers is an indication that he is doing something right. But during the Knicks and Pacers game last night, he hit a nerve.

Here’s the situation: the Pacers had a pretty comfortable lead all game long until Shumpert went into full YOLO mode, and hit four consecutive threes in the third quarter to close the gap to one point. Thanks in large part to the barrage of threes that Shump and his hair sparked, the Knicks held a two point lead halfway through the fourth quarter and it appeared as though they would close the game out for good.

But then, Roy Hibbert had the block of the series, as he sent Melo packing after he spun past Paul George and tried to hammer it home on the Georgetown product. Not only was the block nasty, but it sparked a much needed 9-0 run for the Pacers, which eventually turned into a 106-99 victory and a ticket to the Eastern Conference Finals.

But being the party pooper that he is, Skip Bayless Tweeted this almost immediately after it happened, and I almost hit the ‘block’ button (not really, I sometimes enjoy his outrageous comments):

Hibbert block wasn’t THAT great. He’s 6 inches taller than Melo … who’s turnover pass for and-one was a big deal.

— Skip Bayless (@RealSkipBayless) May 19, 2013

Oh, but wait, it doesn’t end there.

After the game, Skip’s First Take buddy, Stephen A. Smith joined in on the hate and had this to say about the play:

It was a pivotal play in the game, no doubt about it, but I’m not about to throw him a cookie. He is 7-feet-2 for crying out loud. It’s nice to see him get up and block that shot.

That particular play, as great of a block as it was, I guess, you’re 7-feet-2. A guy 6-foot-8 is coming your way. I expect you to be able to make that play. That’s what you’re on the court for. I’m not about to give him cookies and milk for that.

Is now a good time to remind everyone that Stephen A. is a Knicks fan?

Not in my house!
